Organizations are always trying to discover ways to decrease redundant tasks and improve workflow, while maintaining their customer service standards.  Today, accurate and timely information is king.  A delay in data entry, by even a day or two, may no longer be acceptable.

Why go mobile?

Increase productivity – collect accurate data in the field.  No longer does somebody have to interpret illegible handwriting, greatly reducing data errors.

Quick reports – information at your fingertips allowing you to make informed decisions fast and accurately.

Reduce data errors – simply scan the technology of your choice for fast and accurate data collection or retrieval.

Improve customer experience – fast and easy task processing.

Going mobile instantly extends organizational knowledge into the field.  You can now take charge of your environment with mobile devices for your identification, verification, and tracking needs.  Accomplish what is needed from anywhere, anytime.

Handheld devices such as the Motorola ES400 or the Unitech PA690 have never been more affordable.  So what is holding you back?

The Healthcare ID

In response to HSPD-12, the FIPS 201 (Federal Information Processing Standard Publication 201) was released to standardize the credential that is required for all government employees.  The question is, will guidelines similar to FIPS 201 be required in the healthcare industry?

Bill H.R. 451: Healthcare Truth and Transparency Act of 2011 was introduced into congress on January 26, 2011.  This bill prohibits any individual from misleading or deceptive acts regarding their education, training, degree, license, or clinical expertise.

Prior to issuance of any employee ID badge, that employee should first be vetted to verify their identity.  In addition, it should be verified that they do indeed retain the appropriate license for the job function they will perform, where applicable.  Going a step further, once an employee has their badge, verification should be performed every time that employee reports for duty, to prevent misuse.

In response to the bill introduction, individual states such as Pennsylvania and Colorado have already passed legislation to increase transparency within the healthcare industry.  The legislation contains guidelines stipulating that all healthcare professionals who deliver direct care to consumers must wear an ID badge that contains a recent photo, employee’s name, employee’s title and the name of the employment agency.  Some even stipulate that the expiration date of the license be clearly visible.

Larger medical facilities such as hospitals, medical centers, etc. already have some type of ID card in place that follows this format, at least closely, and may require only minor modifications to become compliant.  However, the passed legislation requires this type of identification for any professional that deals directly with their customers, so it now includes your family doctor.  Those who do not comply may incur fines.

Be visible with ID Badge Backers!

ID Badge Backers make your role within your facility instantly recognizable.  Not only to patients but other personnel too!

Due to the limitations of direct-to-card printing, your credit card size employee ID badge may be hard to read from more than a few feet away, making ID Badge Backers the perfect addition.

Designed to be worn under your existing identification badge – no additional attachments are needed!.  No matter your badge orientation, horizontal or vertical, we’ve got your back.   You are not limited to specific colors or titles since they are produced specifically based upon your exact requirements.  In addition, you can incorporate real-time resources meaningful to your staff, such as tips on identifying clinical triggers, PASS/RACE information, page codes etc.

Nurse Appreciation Week

In the memory of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, nurses are recognized annually from May 6th through May 12th.  The theme for 2011 is, “Nurses Trusted to Care.”

In honor of National Nurses week and RN Recognition Day, we have available promotional items for your healthcare facility.  ID Badge Backers are a great way to let patients and others know from a distance that a Registered Nurse is around. Also, the top of the ID Badge Backers can be used to write missions, visions or just about anything that may help or motivate nurses throughout their busy work day.

As attachments, badge reels come as a stock item or they can be customized with recognition statement, hospital logo etc.  Why not let the nurses know they are appreciated by designing customized badge reels or lanyards that they wear everyday with their ID badges?  They come in many shapes, sizes, and colors.

Lanyards are the next nurse favorite; they are made in various different material, colors and sizes. For healthcare, a non-absorbent lanyard is available which wipes clean and is metal-free.  Also available is an antimicrobial lanyard, this material contains nano particles which coat fibers, inhibit the growth of germs and kill odor-causing bacteria.

There are about 3.1 million nurses today in the healthcare facility. Let us not forget how much we value their work.

Visitor Management – Expiring Badges

April 25, 2011 Leave a comment

Security plays a vital role today in businesses, schools, government agencies, and hospitals worldwide.  How does one know who is authorized to be in the facility?  How is it possible to identify, verify and track who is in your building and why?

Visitor control is a necessity in just about any facility; governmental, commercial, financial, healthcare,  educational and/or meeting/convention sites.  Visitors, vendors, contractors and temporary employees are always coming and going at various hours of the day throughout the week.  Yet some organizations may not feel the need to monitor who comes and goes until an incident occurs.  Incidents can occur just about anywhere at any given moment, so it is best to be prepared.  The solution for this is simple – expiring badges.

Expiring badges have been around for years and for any organization it is a must have! They are simple, effective and best of all AFFORDABLE!

In some facilities with a large amount of traffic it can become impossible to keep track of all personnel.  For example, visitors walk out of buildings, forgetting to return visitor badges.  A great component of these expiring badges is that they prevent the re-use of badges by change of color.

The process is a simple chemical reaction that causes the badge to visibly alter in appearance.  The expiring badge consists of a specifically coated white adhesive part and a pre-printed part with time-release ink.  The process is activated as soon as the two parts are joined.  Once activated, it is impossible to separate the two without visibly damaging the badge, making it tamperproof.  The end result of this reaction is a color change that signals expiration either with lines or words like, “VOID” or customized wording across the badge.

  • Expiration is available:
Immediately as soon as badge is exposed to ultra-violet rays
